The Wiregrass Ranch volleyball team will host Citrus High in a game to raise cancer awareness. The Go Pink game will take place Thursday at Wiregrass and starts at 7 p.m.
Players will don pink jerseys and referees will be in pink collared shirts.
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and is in its 25th year. According to the American Cancer Society there will be an estimated 192,370 new cases of invasive breast cancer diagnosed in women in 2009. The ACS expects 1,910 new cases to be reported among men. Additionally, the America Cancer Society expects 40,610 breast cancer deaths this year. Of that, 440 will be men.
If detected early and treated, 95 percent of patients survive at least five years.
