On Friday, there will be a wake for former Bloomingdale star basketball player and Hampton University senior center Theo Smalling, who died Oct. 26 from a gun shot wound in the abdomen in Virginia, former Bloomingdale boys basketball coach Josh Chapin said. The wake will be held at Serenity Meadows, located at 6919 Providence Road in Riverview, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. and from 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. The funeral will be held Saturday at St. Stephens Catholic Church, located at 5049 Bell Shoals Road in Valrico, at 1:30 p.m.
Chapin attended a ceremony in Virginia last week for Smalling, where he said at least 3,000 people showed, including Hampton’s football and men’s and women’s basketball teams.
