According to an impressive poll conducted by The Oregonian (who said newspapers are dead?), attending a University of South Florida football game is the best bargain in college football – at least among the BCS schools and who cares about non-BCS schools, right?
The Oregonian polled every school in the six BCS conferences along with Notre Dame to find out how much the least expensive single game ticket was along with concession prices for a “standard hot dog” – stay away from the non-standard hot dog, they’re made with sawdust – and a large soda.
USF not only has the least expensive single-game ticket ($10) – or $5 if you use a coupon in today’s Tampa Tribune, there I fulfilled my daily promotion requirement as stated in my contract – but also USF fans get the best deal for a ticket ($10), standard hot dog ($4.75) and soda ($6.75). All three for only $21.50!
While USF fans are paying the least amount than any other BCS school for a ticket, standard hot dog and soda combined, visitors to Raymond James Stadium are paying for the most expensive soft drink in college football at $6.75. (The Glazers would like to take this moment to thank you thirsty fans for donating to their 401Ks)
C’mon, $6.75 for a soda? What exactly do they put in those things? Two gallons of unleaded? Thanks for the head’s up on this ticket poll item from Jay at the the Wiz of Odds, college football’s best blog.
FOLLOW GROTHE’S RECORD RUN: USF fans can actually follow QB Matt Grothe’s run through the record book at a new site at TBO.com. The interactive site allows fans to track Grothe’s progress (and a couple of other state QBs) throughout the season.
The interactive TBO link also projects when Grothe should surpass the school record for career rushing yards, career rushing attempts and career rushing touchdowns.
Not listed however is USF’s career record for consuming Chick-fil-A nuggets. Grothe already owns that one.
PICKS CONTEST: Don’t forget, if you haven’t entered already, the third annual USF Tribune/TBO.com picks contest is underway. You’ve got til 6 p.m. Saturday to enter.
