While Armwood has four of the most heavily recruited players in Hillsborough County in quarterback Mywan Jackson, defensive lineman Ryne Giddins, linebacker Petey Smith and safety Angelo Hadley, those aren’t the only players in the Hawks program drawing attention from college recruiters.
Armwood coach Sean Callahan said Thursday that a total of nine Hawks have picked up scholarship offers from either Division I or I-AA programs.
In addition to the four players mentioned above and offensive lineman Justin Cabbagestalk (Vanderbilt) and running back Sirchauncey Holloway (Liberty), who have previously committed to schools, fullback Matt Eastman, receiver Rob Jones and linebacker Casey Callahan each hold a scholarship offer.
Eastman, who rushed for 492 yards and five touchdowns in 2007, holds an offer from Army, a Division I program.
Jones, who caught 14 passes for 184 yards and a touchdown in 2007 and is the Hawks’ leading returning receiver, has an offer from Liberty, a Division I-AA program
Callahan, the coach’s son, who had a team-best 120 tackles in 2007, has an offer from Stony Brook, a Division I-AA program.
