In a ceremony at the school, Tampa Catholic senior quarterback Christian Green received his invitation and game jersey to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl game, an elite high school all-star game scheduled for a live broadcast from San Antonio, Texas, Jan. 9 on NBC.

The game features the nation’s top 90 high school players as selected by the bowl’s Selection Committee, which consists of SportsLink’s network of regional directors throughout the country, Rivals.com and nationally-renowned recruiting expert Tom Lemming. The game is in it’s 10th year and some of its alumni include NFL standouts Adrian Peterson and Reggie Bush, as well as University of Florida senior quarterback Tim Tebow.
As a result of Christian Green being selected to the game, Crusaders coach Bob Henriquez has been invited to travel to San Antonio to attend the U.S. Army Coaches Academy, a two-day event featuring clinics from NFL and NCAA coaches. Henriquez is also invited to participate in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl game-week activities.
Tuesday, Green was presented his jersey by Staff Sgt. Jacob Vaughn, stationed at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa.
Another TC star, offensive lineman Chaz Green, is also headed to a major postseason prep bowl game. Chaz Green has been named to the roster of the 2010 Under Armour All-American Game. The third annual event will be played Jan. 2, 2010 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg and be televised live by ESPN.
“The great thing about Christian and Chaz is they have never strayed from the team concept,” Henriquez said. “It’s never been about ‘me’ or ‘I’ with either of them. It’s always been ‘What can we do to make the team better?’ “
