River Ridge coach Tim Stevens said RB/FB David Daubert, the team’s second-leading rusher, was dismissed from the team prior to Friday’s game against Wiregrass Ranch for violating unspecified team rules.

Daubert, who often spelled senior starter Stavros Arianas and was excellent in short-yardage situations, seemed to be a likely candidate to take over as River Ridge’s featured back after this season. Stevens did not say if Daubert would be allowed to re-join the team next season.

The Royal Knights (2-6, 0-3 Class 4A-District 6) lost 41-7 to Wiregrass Ranch on Friday, ending any hope of reaching the playoffs. They play rival Ridgewood next week and finish the season against Sunlake.
