A couple of notes from New York Newsday Islanders’ beat writer Greg Logan on the status of goaltender Rick DiPietro, who missed the Islanders’ first three games due to swelling in his knee. DiPietro made it through his first full practice on Wednesday before New York left for Tampa.
Also, do you remember this guy?
Well the Islanders just called him up (I know, he’s in a Rangers’ jersey, have to take what I can find on the web to make it fit) But that’s former Lightning farm hand Mitch Fritz, all 6-foot-7 of him, who will be with the team for Thursday’s game against the Lightning. No guarantee he’ll play, but I can bet that if Fritz dresses then David Koci dresses, and vice versa. Otherwise, both will probably keep on eye on things from the press level.
