Boston’s Daisuke Matsuzake continued his bid for a no-hitter through six innings as the Red Sox clung to a 1-0 lead over the Rays in Game 1 of the ALCS at Tropicana Field.
Through six innings Matsusake had retired 16 of the last 17 batters he’d faced, including 10 straight. This after walking the bases loaded in the first inning.
For his part, Rays starter James Shields worked a 1-2-3 sixth inning that included a strikout of dangerous Boston slugger David Ortiz.
