Rays Report
Forum: Talk Rays
Navarro out of game with cramps

In a key situation in the bottom of the sixth, the Rays have sent Shawn Riggans up to pinch-hit for Dioner Navarro.

Navarro looked like he pulled up just before the bag on his groundout to second in the fifth inning but remained in the game.

Updating, 9:30 p.m. The Rays say Navarro left the game with cramping in both hamstrings.

Updating postgame: Navarro wasn’t available, as he was slated for about an hour’s worth of treatment on his legs. But he sent word through Rays spokesman Chris Costello that he doesn’t know if he’ll be able to play tomorrow and this is a day-to-day thing.

And yes, he did first feel it on that groundout in the fifth.

“I felt a little tightness and I’d rather come out before making it worse,” Navarro said. “I’ll be here early tomorrow to test it.”
