Ah ha, I caught you didn’t I. That urge you still have lingering from yesterday is back. You can feel it pulsating through your veins and it courses through you like your the Incredible Hulk to the point where you get all puffy and red (NO, not green, I mean, that’s science fiction after all) and you have to feed that addiciton just to check out exactly what that headline means.
“Lightning sign 2? What does that mean? Who are they adding now? Is Brooks Orpik on board?’’ you might be asking yourself right now
Well, I’m here to calm your frayed nerves and to tell to please, just take a seat, take a deep breath and let it out. The free agent frenzy is over (I think) and the Lightning are done with their binge.
The two signings are Ryan Craig, as reported here last night and in today’s paper, and defenseman Janne Niskala who was acquired from Philadelphia on Monday.
Craig, who was a restricted free agent, signed a two-year deal worth $1.575 million. He will make $775,000 this year and $800,000 next season. Craig earned $850,000 last season but back and knee injuries kept him out of all but seven games.
As far as Niskala, he signed a one-year deal that is believed to be a one-way contract that will pay him $600,000 whether he makes the NHL club or not. I’m trying to verify those numbers and I’ll update when I get them. UPDATE Confirmed, a one-way deal worth $600,000 for next season.
I’m not really sure what to expect today, but I don’t anticipate anything that is going to send shock waves the the Lightning fan base. But I guess you have to keep checking, just to make sure!!!
