Former Lakewood point guard Reggie Reed, who helped the Spartans reach the Class 5A boys basketball state championship this past season, has signed with Rend Lake College, a NJCAA Division II school in Illinois.
Reed scored 13 points in a 61-55 loss to eventual champion Ft. Lauderdale Dillard.
Against Brandon in the Class 5A state semis, Reed had 10 points to help then No. 5 state-ranked Lakewood advance, 56-50.
“It’s a real good program,” Reed said. “Last year a guard signed with Kentucky, two more signed with Minnesota. I already qualified for a Division I school, but (coaches) said I was small so I’ll play here for a year and get bigger.”
