Hillsborough County: |

Lennard receiver Blake Kennedy put together some of the best numbers in Hillsborough County last season with 52 catches for 821 yards and seven touchdowns.
The Longhorns senior is hoping for a repeat performance this season, and he’s hoping it will lead to some increased interest on the recruiting front.
“I think this year is going to be big for me,” Kennedy said. “I think I’m going to have to have a pretty good year, probably close to what I did last year.”
As of now, Kennedy is yet to pick up a scholarship offer. He attended camps this summer at USF and FAU, and said both the Bulls and Owls, along with Charleston Southern, have expressed some interest. But if Kennedy puts together another year like 2007, when he finished near the top in the county in virtually every receiving statistical category, things could certainly change.
What Kennedy believes will change this year is Lennard’s fortune on the football field. The Longhorns were just 1-9 in their inaugural varsity season, but they have a new head coach in George Edington and a new outlook on the 2008 season.
“I think we’re going to be a pretty good team,” Kennedy said. “I don’t think we’re going to be at the bottom like everyone probably thinks. I think we’re going to surprise a lot of people.”
