Another Big Ten program has jumped into the recruitment of Armwood senior quarterback Mywan Jackson.
That would be Purdue.
The Boilermakers recently extended a scholarship offer to Jackson, according to Armwood coach Sean Callahan, and this one has some significance. While Jackson holds more than 20 Division I scholarship offers, most of the schools are recruiting Jackson as an athlete. Purdue joins a list that previously included only Middle Tennessee State that is recruiting Jackson primarily as a quarterback.
Jackson has thrived in the Hawks’ new spread offense this season. Through Armwood’s first six games, Jackson has accounted for 1,395 yards of total offense (823 passing, 572 rushing) and 24 total touchdowns (15 passing, nine rushing).
Purdue has some ground to make up in the recruitment process if it hopes to land Jackson’s services. Another Big Ten program has made a very good impression on Jackson - that would be Michigan, a school Jackson plans to make an official visit to before making a decision (he made an unofficial visit to the Ann Arbor campus this summer).
