The Armwood Hawks continue to rake in the national recognition.
Armwood remain ranked in four major national polls, though that was expected after the Hawks defeated Lake Gibson 31-14 in their Kickoff Classic last Friday.
Armwood is No. 2 in the RivalsHigh 100, No. 8 in the USA Today Super 25, No. 8 in the PrepNation.com National Prep Poll, and No. 11 in the ESPNRISE.com Fab 50. The ESPNRISE.com FAB 50 is the only poll in which the Hawks moved up from their previous position. Armwood was No. 14 in the initial poll.
The Hawks can make a big statement to the national media on Friday in a showdown against Plant, a game that will be televised live on ESPNU and probably the only time in which most of the national pundits will get an opportunity to see the Hawks. That’s because Plant also is among the program’s receiving national recognition.
The Panthers are No. 32 (up from No. 53) in the RivalsHigh 100 and No. 19 (up from No. 20) in the ESPNRISE.com FAB 50. Plant is not ranked in the USA Today Super 25 or the PrepNation.com National Prep Poll.
As for other polls, the Beef O’Brady’s Top 25, which ranks Florida football programs across all classifications, was released Tuesday. Armwood is No. 2, behind only defending Class 5A state champion Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas.
Plant is tied for 10th with Miami Washington and Chamberlain is 12th, rounding out the area’s ranked teams. Hillsborough and Largo received votes.
