First Round Draft Pick Proud Of Billy Turner

Brodrick Bunkley has played for some of the greatest football minds the game has ever seen. He was a standout defensive tackle for coach Bobby Bowden at Florida State and is in his third season with the Philadelphia Eagles, which is led by veteran coach Andy Reid. The Eagles selected Bunkley with the 14th overall pick in the 2006 draft.

Still, the memories with his high school coach, Billy Turner, are dear to him. Bunkley was a member of Turner’s 2001 team that advanced to the Class 5A state championship. Turner will try to go for his 250th career win and 200th while at Chamberlain on Thursday when his Chiefs host Jefferson.

With his team on a bye this week, Bunkley had time to share some kind words about Turner.

“I just want to congratulate coach Turner on having the opportunity to win his 250th game,” Bunkley said. “During my time playing for him I witnessed him do so many great things for so many people. He makes all of his players want to play hard for him. I remember visiting practice while I was in college and just seeing him running up and down the field being in tune with his players. When you have a coach like that, it’s easy to want to play hard for him.”
