Draft Q & A: Other USF Stars

Q (from Greg M.): Luke, I’ve heard a lot about former USF cornerback Michael Jenkins (and for good reason) but what about his counterpart Trae Williams? Have you heard any rumors about when/where he’ll end up?  Also, what about Ben Moffitt?

A: Williams and Moffitt are both likely to be selected on the 2nd day of the draft, with Williams the most likely to come off the board first.  While Jenkins is probably the more complete corner of the two, Williams has better top end speed and has proved to have a knack for making big plays.  Moffitt’s strengths are his intangibles: leadership, instincts, and the ability to play beyond just his pure physical talent.  Moffitt doesn’t wow scouts with his speed or strength, but there are definitely teams that simply love the way he plays the game, and will take a chance on him despite his lack of outstanding physical ability.  Look for Williams to come off the board anytime after the mid-3rd round, while Moffitt will likely have to wait until the 6th or 7th.
