Officials remain on-scene investigating a double fatal crash in South Tampa. The accident occurred around 3:20 this morning at the intersection of Macdill Avenue and Neptune Street. According to investigators, a car hit a pole before careening into a building, killing two and injuring two others. Those injuried were transported to local hospitals and are listed in critical condition.
As the clean-up and investigation continues, officials have closed Macdill Avenue between Aquilla Street and Prospect Road. Drivers are being asked to avoid this area. Local detours including Marti Street are recommended throughout the morning rush.
