Daisuke Matsuzaki has a no-hitter going through four innings of Game 1 in the ALCS at Tropicana Field, while Rays starter James Shields has a shutout going of his on and has allowed just two hits by the Red Sox.
Kevin Youkilis has both of Boston’s hits, including a one-out single in the top of the fourth, but Shields got J.D. Drew to hit into an inning-ending double play.
Matsuzaki appears to be getting stronger as the game goes on, striking out Carl Crawford and Cliff Floyd in the bottom of the fourth before Dioner Navarro fouled out.
Matsuzaki has seven strikeouts, to go with four walks, through four innings.
