Each year, Hillsborough County sends dozens of football standouts to the college ranks. Here is a look at what some of them did during the past week for their respective teams. We’ll put together a list each Monday.
Middle Tennessee State running back D.D. Kyles (Armwood) rushed for 140 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries in a 27-20 win over Florida Atlantic.
New Mexico receiver Daryl Jones (Hillsborough) had eight receptions for 86 yards and a touchdown in a 23-20 loss to San Diego State.
USF receiver Carlton Mitchell (Gaither) had five receptions for 132 yards and a touchdown in a 30-19 win over West Virginia.
Elon linebacker Josh Jones (Wharton) had eight tackles and a forced fumble in a 34-6 win over Wofford.
Florida International receiver Greg Ellingson (Robinson) had two receptions for 19 yards and a touchdown in a 20-17 win over Louisiana-Lafayette.
Georgia tight end Orson Charles (Plant) had two receptions for 18 yards in a 41-17 loss to Florida.
Florida Atlantic tight end Jason Harmon (Riverview) had five receptions for 77 yards in a 27-20 loss to Middle Tennessee State.
Bucknell quarterback Marcello Trigg (Robinson) completed 13 of 36 passes for 195 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions and also rushed for a touchdown in a 35-14 loss to Lafayette.
Middle Tennessee State defensive back Kevin Brown (Jefferson) had 10 tackles in a 27-20 win over Florida Atlantic.
Citadel punter Cass Couey (Freedom) averaged 40.4 yards per punt on seven attempts with a long of 50 in a 28-16 win over Samford.
Missouri State running back Jonathan Davis (Gaither) rushed for 30 yards on 11 carries in a 24-14 loss to Illinois State.
Liberty running back SirChauncey Holloway (Armwood) rushed for 99 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries in a 55-19 win over Presbyterian.
Florida A&M return specialist LeRoy Vann (Blake) averaged 23.5 yards per punt return (two returns) and 20.3 yards per kickoff return (four returns) and rushed for 16 yards on three carries in a 31-28 win over Morgan State.
Florida linebacker A.J. Jones (Middleton) had five tackles, two interceptions and a sack in a 41-17 win over Georgia.
Florida Atlantic defensive lineman Dino Cox (Wharton) had two tackles in a 27-20 loss to Middle Tennessee State.
Middle Tennessee State linebacker Gorby Loreus (Jefferson) had three tackles in a 27-20 win over Florida Atlantic.
Florida International defensive back Chuck Grace (Hillsborough) had four tackles in a 20-17 win over Louisiana-Lafayette.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff defensive back James Harrell (Plant) had two tackles in a 24-10 loss to Southern.
Coast Guard receiver Eric Gerken (Tampa Catholic) had three receptions for eight yards in a 76-49 loss to Maine Maritime.
Fort Hays State receiver O.J. Murdock (Middleton) had six receptions for 71 yards in a 66-40 loss to Northwest Missouri State.
Bethune Cookman defensive lineman Ryan Davis (Blake) had five tackles and a sack in a 31-13 win over North Carolina A&T.
Murray State defensive back Erik Fennell (Hillsborough) had 12 tackles in a 16-10 loss to Eastern Illinois.
Central Connecticut State linebacker P.J. Briody (Tampa Catholic) had six tackles in a 31-29 win over Albany.
Newport News Apprentice running back Sam Arnold (King) rushed for 57 yards on 14 carries in a 17-14 loss to Webber International.
Murray State defensive lineman Jamal Crook (Alonso) had three tackles and a half sack in a 16-10 loss to Eastern Illinois.
Concord defensive back R.J. Anderson (Armwood) had eight tackles and a forced fumble in a 15-9 win over Fairmont State.
West Virginia Wesleyan defensive back Ottis Scott (Chamberlain) and three tackles in a 28-0 win over West Virginia State.
South Carolina quarterback Stephen Garcia (Jefferson) completed 25 of 50 passes for 300 yards, one touchdown and one interception in a 31-13 loss to Tennessee.
Quincy linebacker Austin Welti (Cambridge Christian) had two tackles in a 38-0 loss to McKendree.
Jacksonville State defensive lineman Torrey Davis (Armwood) had a fumble recovery in a 28-10 win over Austin Peay.
Appalachian State receiver DeAndre Presley (Middleton) had one reception for 21 yards in a 52-27 win over Furman.
Boston College defensive lineman Conor O’Neal (Newsome) had one tackle in a 31-10 win over Western Michigan.
Wake Forest receiver Lovell Jackson (Plant) averaged 27 yards per kickoff return on three attempts with a long of 37 in a 28-27 loss to Miami.
Cheyney University of Pennsylvania quarterback Angel Rodriguez (Tampa Bay Tech) passed for 63 yards and rushed for 41 yards and a touchdown in a 31-10 loss to Shippensburg.
Webber International defensive lineman Arsenio Durant (Plant City) had one tackle in a 17-14 win over Newport News Apprentice.
Elon defensive back Nolan Ward (Riverview) had three tackles in a 34-6 win over Wofford.
Waldorf College defensive back Dominique Lee (Brandon) had three tackles in a 19-0 loss to Saint Francis.
