Adrian Bush has resigned his position as General Manager at RSL Florida Soccer Club, saying in an e-mail he felt it was the right time for him to step away from the program. Bush added that he wished nothing but the best for the club as it moved forward into a new season.
Bush, who is also the Men’s soccer coach at the University of Tampa, joined the Tampa Knights in 2006. Shortly after, the team changed its name to RSL Florida after Bush engineered a partnership with Real Salt Lake of Major League Soccer.
In the past season, nine RSL Florida teams reached the final four of the Florida Youth Soccer Association State Cup competition, with three teams winning state titles.
Director of Girls coaching Jim Cote and director of boys coaching Maurice Loregnard will take over the general manager position in the interim, with Cote expecting that the club will fill the position from within. Cote added that he was meeting with board members and the boys under-18 team on Thursday to try to allow Bush to continue as coach of that squad.
“My whole focus is to make sure that happens,” Cote said. “He’s a heck of a coach.”
Cote added that with the infrastructure the clubs currently has, he didn’t expect there to be a drop-off in the quality of play from RSL on the field.
“I think everything is in place,” Cote said. “The staff is in place, the team’s all have the opportunity of doing well, so I don’t see anything changing there, from what our goals are as a club.”
