As you may have heard, early on Wednesday morning, a Brandon deputy was shot at the intersection of Kings Avenue near Lumsden Road. Heavy police presence is expected to be in place throughout the morning in the Brandon area as investigations continue.
As a result, watch out for critical arterial road closures in that region. As of 6:30a.m., Lumdsen Road remains shut down between Brandon Parkway and Parsons Avenue. Officials recommend using Brandon Boulevard or Bloomingdale Avenue as your east-west alternates. In addition, Kings Avenue is closed essentially from Brandon Boulevard through to Lumsden Road. If you are trying to head north or south, you may try Providence Road or Lithia-Pinecrest Road.
Drivers should expect significant travel time delays throughout Brandon and leave extra time for their commute this morning.
