Officials are making their way to scene of a serious accident involving a vehicle and a school bus in Pinellas County. The crash occurred shortly before 7 a.m. along the WB lanes of Curlew Road between Tampa Road and McMullen Booth Road. Early reports do not confirm whether or not there were passengers on that school bus at the time of the crash. At this time, it appears the driver of the vehicle may be trapped.
As medical units respond to this developing situation, officials urge drivers to avoid the area. Westbound traffic should proceed along SR-580 as an alternate.

I saw this accident and it looked pretty bad. The car was literally under the school bus. I’d be willing to bet a cell phone was involved. Someone wasn’t paying attention and going pretty fast. The bus was empty when I saw it this morning around 8:15 a.m. I hope none of the kids were hurt.
