Middleton senior defensive lineman Andreal Coleman will be one of the top defensive players in Hillsborough County next season. The 6-foot-3, 260 pound lineman has already received offers from Troy, Georgia Southern and USF.

How tough is Middleton’s defense going to be this season?

To me, this will probably be the best defense we’ve had, ever.  We’ve been focusing on our strength and speed, wWe thoroughly go over our plays each day and we are blessed to have some great coaches. We have veterans from last year and everyone knows how to communicate. We’re teaching the news guys what’s what.

What are your best abilities on the field?

My strength. My strength has improved and my speed.

How bad do you guys want to go to the postseason?

This year is the year we’re going to the playoffs, for sure. There is no doubt in my mind we’re going. Everyone is ready and hyped to go.

There have been reports that Middleton is on the verge of closing if it doesn’t improve. What are your thoughts about that possibility?
It’ll be harsh. I want to say it’s not the community, but it’s the people (involved). I guess we have the disadvantage on that part. Like coach (Harry Hubbard) has been telling us, we need to come together as a team because if the football team can influence the rest of the school, maybe we can bring some good to that.

Who will have the better band this year, Blake or Middleton?
I think we’ll have the better band this year.
