Rays free agents have earned $213 million this offseason

Carl Crawford isn’t the only former Ray to receive a big payday this offseason

Not a bad offseason for Rays free agents, huh?

Add Rafael Soriano’s three-year deal with the Yankees that could be as rich as $35 million to the pot and the eight players from the 2010 squad who left via free agency will collect $213 million dollars over the life of their contracts, which are a combined 19 years.

And that doesn’t include incentive bonuses.

OK, Carl Crawford’s mega 7-year, $142 million contract with the Red Sox kind of knocks the numbers out of whack, but still, all eight players who signed with other teams have done well for themselves.

And that’s not including Willy Aybar, Grant Balfour, Chad Qualls and Lance Cormier, who remain unsigned (though Qualls is reported to be close to a deal with the Padres) or J.P. Howell, who re-signed with the Rays.

Here’s the tally:

Joaquin Beniot, 3 years, $16.5 million from the Tigers

Randy Choate, 2 years, $2.5 million from the Marlins

Carl Crawford, 7 years, $142 million from the Red Sox

Brad Hawpe, 1 year, $3 million from the Padres

Dioner Navarro, 1 year, $1 million from the Dodgers

Carlos Peña, 1 year, $10 million from the Cubs

Rafael Soriano, 3 years, $35 million from the Yankees

Dan Wheeler, 1 year, $3 million from the Red Sox
