With Jon Gruden declining comment Tuesday, it was left for Bucs OL coach Bill Muir to defend a defending division champion still coping with the fallout from the Jerramy Stevens signing and recent public remarks by Chris Simms critical of Tampa Bay’s seventh-year coach.
“All I know is what’s going on inside this building—there is no controversy,’’ said Muir, who joined Gruden’s inaugural 2002 staff in Tampa. “There’s single purpose of mind, from the head coach to the last player on the roster. The media’s job is to stir things up and they seem to be doing a very good job of it, but it’s not being stirred inside. The controversy is from outside the building.’’
Featured RB Earnest Graham hasn’t been working out at the facility and No. 1 QB Jeff Garcia is disgruntled with his contract, but Muir is stressing the positive six weeks before Tampa Bay players and coaches head to training camp.
“You go to our board and see the participation in the offseason program, you see the effort outside here in the OTAs, you see the attention in the meeting rooms,’’ Muir said. “The only issues we have are New Orleans and Atlanta. Those are our issues. I’ve been doing this a long time and it’s an encouraging group to be around.’’
According to Simms, his relationship with Gruden is likely frayed beyond repair.
“I can only tell you this because everyone will think I’m sucking up to the head coach, but for all of those Gruden haters out there, I really don’t care,’’ said Muir. “They don’t know what a real football coach is supposed to be like. I’ve been around a real football coach or two in my life – this is a real football coach. End of story. He’s a real football coach.’’

Perez, I just can’t believe that you are 14 yrs old yet. 4 yes, 10 yrs old, OK I’ll buy that. You just haven’t got a clue. You & Brian deserve each other and Rich McKay and sorry a__ Falcons. Take your butts back to Atlanta and go watch the dog fights. We ae winners here and you two are losing your Argument. 6’-5” 285#s with a moderate beer belly doesn’t make me Fat. As for drunks at the Games, I resemble that remark.

If so, what are Knoll, Parcels, Shula, Lombardi, Shram etc…What kind of coaches were they?
Real Football Coaches, thats what.
Thanks Brian. Some common sense from GA, go Falcons!!

To the Gruden Haters and the Gruden Lovers out there, numbers don’t lie. With the Raiders he was 38 - 26. With the Bucs 48 - 48. Overall record in coaching, 86 - 74. So I ask Bill Muir, Gruden Haters and Gruden Lovers, is this the record of a Great Coach, An Offensive Genius? If so, what are Knoll, Parcels, Shula, Lombardi, Shram etc…What kind of coaches were they?

KBA—-I did grow up on Davis Island, and yes, most people call it that, but it really is Davis Islands because of Riviera Dr., that is a seperate island, so there are two islands, remember the bridge to get on Riviera Dr., just google map it, you will see. A true Davis Islander from 4 years old to 14. I will just keep watching the Gators and forget about the Bucs, the only reason I responded to this is cuz Muir was saying Gruden haters are wrong, I have my opinion you have yours, I have never seen anything that great about Gruden, i would love to tell that to his face, tell him to meet me anytime, i do not blame him for raking in the money though.

Todd- Your loyalty is all good, but I do not bother to go to those games as they are only filled with drunk idiots.
FatYuckFan- Yeah i live in a box, and i came on a boat, i am a ##### and proud of it. Not really….cuz…

Anthony,
If you bring your Jon Boat to Raymond James Stadium we will blow it out of the water with the cannons we have on our ship. And Gruden will be our trigger man. Our cannons will be working overtime this season. So go ahead and round up all of your beloved Gruden haters and yourself and come on down. We will be glad to see ya. We will blow them all out of the water. And thats a FACT !!!

Perez lives in a Box, on a Jon Boat (no pun intended), with an anchor and a palm tree that he considers an island. He has a stolen I-phone he blogs from, but the rightful owner should find missing in the next few hours & hopefully discontinue the service. Then we won’t here from him for a few days until he steals another one. I hope he doesn’t shot anybody this time. Maybe he should move to East LA. Their Zoning allows Boxes & Jon Boats without trailers.

Anthony ... I grew up in Tampa and I lived on Davis Island (singular at that time not plural) but it has been a while. Therefore I thought I would ask if the city planners built another Davis Island since I have been gone (like maybe a sequel island).

I’m an idiot, you guys are all pipe dreamers. I am arealist, and I blog for fun, and that’s right, cuz I hate Gruden. He sucks, he will prove it the next year and the next year. You idiots stay loyal. Go Colts!! Straight from Davis Islands.

And Anthony, You are just an idioit !!!

So why don’t you Gruden haters and Dungy lovers get back to reallity.
Posted by todd, PSJ, FL on 06/11 at 11:25 AM
Dan Bettan,
I like Dungy don’t get me wrong he is a good man. But think about it we just got ourselves exstablished just before he got here. He didn’t draft Lynch,Dunn,Brooks,Sapp. He just took over as coach for them.
Same goes for the Colts, they were already exstablished also with Peyton Manning. If it wasn’t for Peyton Manning they wouldn’t be as good as they are now. Peyton Manning won the superbowl for them.If Peyton Manning wasn’t their QB they would just be a mediocore team.
We didn’t win the superbowl with Dungys team,We won it with Kiffens Defense which is still here and Grudens offense when he added a few key players in Jurivisious,Pittman,McCardell.

Well Perez. You sure haven’t made any friends here. The more you write, the more you sound like an adolescent, unemployed, gangbangin, illegal alien thug, with poor aim & few remaining brain cells.

AnthonySamuelPerez, Tampa If you dont like the Bucs anymore why are you reading and writing blogs about them. Why dont you just stick to college football then. I bet you weren’t a gruden hater in 2002. I also bet you wouldn’t be a hater next year when we win the super bowl this year.
Posted by AnthonySamuelPerez, Tampa on 06/11 at 10:18 AM
The Bucs with Gruden have strayed me so far away; I only truly care about college football now. You guys have a nice life with da Bucs. Peace Ouutt!!!

I’ll bet you a $1000.00 Gruden is still here in 2 years? Put your money where your mouth is!!!
AnthonySamuelPerez, Tampa on 06/11 at 08:12 AM
I will be, hopefully, with a REAL winning team next year. You guys that are loyal I appreciate that. I cannot be loyal to a Front Office like that, I tried. I will bet you that Gruden will be fired in the next 2 years though.

I wasnt comparing luke to tom brady. I was saying we found a guy with a story like tom brady. A uknown Qb drafted late and emerge as a star. That’s my prediction. Luke from zero to hero.
And to the guy with the racist Kool-aid comment man, stop being racist. yes i’m black, but doesnt mean I like kool-aid. In fact I hate it. Wats up with all this people in here, with some much hate against their own kind? Bucs fan stick 2gether right. Damn man grow up.

Duane, Dungy/McKay is far and away the greatest draft tandem in Bucs history.
Posted by Duane Davis, Sarasota, Fl on 06/11 at 08:25 AM
We let the media run off a pretty good coach and QB in the past and now they are trying to do it again. Say what you want about Sam Wyche, but he drafted a heck of a lot better than that idiot Tony Dungy. Trent Dilfer was no Johnny U, but a lot better than the lazy QB that replaced him. I don’t know for sure if Jeremey Stevens is guilty of rape or not but neither does anyone else but these “good” people playing god (Steve Dueming) are out to persecute him into poverty. Media types are like parasites because they live off other peoples misfortunes.

You reporters kill me! Instead of reporting the news, you guys have become the “Ann Landers” of the sports world. You would be much better off working for the “National Enquirer”. A fan such as myself who was lucky enough to sit in on a private practice and have lunch at 1 Buc Place, I can see what Coach Muir means. What happens inside that building on a daily bases and the perception of what you reporters thinks happens is night and day. You guys should be bagging groceries for a living!

L Ron Hubbard:
I will tell anything I want to Grudens face, hell, I hate Sapp, I will tell him things to his face that I am sure would offend him. I am just not that pissed off at Gruden. Sapp I hate. Holmgren, now there is a good football coach. I was a Bucs fan from there inception, and I have been through all their bad and good coaches. I do not like Gruden at all. There is no need to take it personal, L Ron. I grew up in South Tampa, very proud of that. Tampa Bays head coach, sorry not proud of that at all. Gruden is way overrated, always has been. Proudly a Gruden Hater, and a disenfranchised Bucs fan. If the Bucs play the Jets next year, you can look for me, L Ron, I will be the only Tampa Native wearing Jets gear… or Chargers.
Posted by Ron Hubbard, Tampa on 06/11 at 06:22 AM
Well AnthonySamuelPerez…...thank goodness we will not have you as a Bucs fan . Haters like you we do not want. One has to wonder how someone who says they were born and raised in Tampa can call themselves a “Tampon”.... I was born and raised here and have lived here my entire life (56 years) and I have never heard a native call themselves a “Tampon” so forgive me if I don’t believe you. I also wonder if you would have the nerve or guts to call Gruden a “SOB” to his face. I happen to know he has both a mother and father so again you must be considered a “liar”. I wonder how you would like it if someone disrespected your mother like that? Or would they be disrespecting her?

Gruden is most certainly a head football coach. The likes of Lombardi, Cower, Stram, and Maddon, to name a few. So many pansies have forgotten how tough a game football has always been and the grit and grinders that have played. The Raiders of old, the Steelers of old, the Cowboys of old. If it wouldn’t be bleeped out, the name football itself would’ve been a four letter word.
