TAMPA – If the Rams really do have an interest in talking to Raheem Morris about their vacant head coach’s job, they have a funny way of showing it.
Though it’s been reported that the Rams have asked for and received permission to speak with Morris, they have yet to contact Morris.
“I seriously have not heard,’’ Morris said in a response to a text message about the situation.
It’s possible that the Rams, knowing Morris was returning to Tampa following his interview in Denver, haven’t gotten around to calling Morris yet.
Or it could be that the Rams are simply lining up alternate candidates and will call Morris at a later date, should the need arise.
What makes us wonder is the fact that Rams executives were asked just 48 hours ago about Morris and expressed no interest or desire to interview him.
That seemed to change when the report about the Rams interest in Morris came out earlier in the day on NFL.com.
The truth of the matter, though, is that no one, including Morris, really seems to know for sure whether Morris is really up for this job or not.
As soon as we get something concrete on it we’ll let you know. Until then we’ll continue to wait for confirmation from Morris, the Bucs and or the Rams.

I’ll say it. This is a result of the Rooney Rule and Ronnie Lot isn’t available anymore. How many interviews did he go on. The up side is it will give Morris a ton of face time with different owners and opportunity to advance. The down side is the Bucs and its fans care more about the defense of the Tampa Bay Bucs and not the teams in St. Louis, Denver or anywhere else. Morris will dig, work hard and show he was the correct person to be the DC.

morris is already getting on my last nerves. either accept the job or don’t. do his potential employers know that his secondary was part of the biggest defensive collapse in team history?? just ask phillip rivers. idiot.

Um, I have got to disagree here. As per NFL rules, no team can prevent one of their coaches from interviewing for a head coaching position. So it’s not as if the Bucs could really do anything about it.

Wow, really? You think they should dump a guy because other teams think he’s got head coach potential? OK.
There’s nothing wrong with the Bucs that can’t be fixed by getting rid of some of the “fans.”
I must have missed the story where Morris said “thanks for the promotion to defensive coordinator guys, now I can’t wait to get out of here and go coach somewhere else.”
Like you’d turn down someone that called you up asking if you were interested in a promotion. That’d be REAL smart now, wouldn’t it?
Sometimes I wonder when the “fans” are yelling and screaming about the coaches and players being idiots, if it’s just a perfect example of “takes one to know one” or what…

No one cares. The Rams & the Broncos can take a hike, & take Morris with them. If he wants to leave so bad, give him his walking papers. This is getting ridiculous. Why are the Bucs tolerating this? Wait, oh my bad, I forgot Bruce Allen is at the helm. OMG!!! look out, Ice Berg dead ahead. All stop!!! Oh wait, now we have no steering control! Chucky man the lifeboats, the HMS Glazer is sinking fast. We need more dilithium crystals.

do any of you understand what the rooney rule is. it require teams to interview minorities for coaching positions. there is a small number of minority coaches in the nfl, especially at the coordinator head coach positions. this is an every day part of the nfl hiring process. where have you been? it has nothing to do with morris wanting to stay/leave. morris has already accepted the coordinator position and is looking to fill holes on the staff. doesnt sound like hes going anywhere. the is also more than 100 other coaches/teams going through the same thing. only bucs fans could take this situation this way.
