Bucs Report
Jones/Kennison Waiting On Bucs

Former Detroit running back Kevin Jones is still interested in playing for Tampa Bay, but is one of several players patiently waiting to hear back from the Bucs.

Tony Fleming, Jones’ agent, said the Bucs are one of five teams interesting in his client. However, Fleming said despite published reports stating Jones will visit Tampa Bay next week, they have not scheduled anything yet.

“I saw that on T.V. last night and it’s not true,” Fleming said. “Unless something happens today, I don’t know that report to be true. ”

Fleming said Jones is still intrigued with the opportunity to play for Tampa Bay despite its plethora of running backs. The Bucs currently have Earnest Graham, Michael Bennett, Warrick Dunn, Kenneth Darby, rookie Cory Boyd, plus the possibility of Cadillac Williams’ return this season.

Jones is recovering from knee surgery he had five months ago and last month Miami, Green Bay, Pittsburgh and Detroit reportedly sent representatives to watch him workout in Saline, Mich. Tampa Bay was not one of the teams in attendance.

Last year, Jones missed the first two games as he recovered from a foot injury that also sidelined him for the last three games of 2006. He ran for at least 70 yards in five games, including a season-high 105 against Chicago, before hurting his knee Dec. 23 against the Chiefs. He finished with 153 carries for 581 yards and eight touchdowns in 13 games. A few months after the season, Detroit released him.

“Tampa Bay is definitely one of the teams interested in him, but we’re still waiting to hear back from them,” Fleming said.

In addition, Former Kansas City standout receiver Eddie Kennison is still waiting on a return call from Tampa Bay.

Kennison, who was hindered by a torn hamstring last year, worked out for Tampa Bay last month, but has yet to receive a training camp invite.

“He’s very interested in being a Buc and has made that clear,” said John Hamilton, Kennison’s agent. “He would love to play for Jon Gruden and hopefully we’ll hear from them soon.”

Kennison, 35, has 548 career receptions for 8,345 yards and 42 touchdowns. He was originally a first round draft pick by the St. Louis Rams in 1996.

However, last season’s injury slowed Kennison, who had only 13 receptions for 101 yards and no touchdowns.

We don’t need Jones or Kennison !!!
Stay home !!!  Jones is only produseing 70 yrds. a game Dunn and Earnest can do a whole lot better.

Christian Hawley…

Dont get me wrong I would love to Favre playing for the Bucs! But, I think Garica and Gruden have to strong of a relationship for Gruden to put him as back-up for Favre. If Gruden & Allen want to risk that relationship to trade for Favre, most definitely the Bucs are one of the top teams to get Favre. Now I think that Gruden and Allen will try to get him,but I dont know Gruden & Allen maybe they will pursue him or they may not.

The idea of bringing Sapp back is intriguing; if only to allow him to finish his last season as a Buccaneer.  Regarding Stevens, he allegedly did some pretty rotten things while a student/player and a few stupid things involving drinking and driving.  But hasn’t he settled with the woman out of court and been attending AA meetings and staying clean?  He hasn’t had one incident since playing for the Bucs!  Give the guy a break.  There are many “golden boy” players that made mistakes when they were young including one of my favorites Dan Marino.  Enough is enough…stop playing God and learn to forgive, love and let live!

Bringing Farve in would be both smart assuming Farve understands he isn’t guaranteed the starting spot.  Besides, that would give the Bucs leverage towards a new contract with Garcia.  Simms, should be traded to Dallas for receiver Terry Glenn which will give the Bucs another deep threat.  Pick your poison, Galloway, Glenn or Dexter Jackson.  Eddie Kennison and Kevin Jones are beyond their prime and the backfield is already crowded!  Just my two cents.

Why would it be a gamble?  Gruden runs a very similar offense to green bays.  the only major difference would be the terminology.  Gruden came from GB.  he worked under holmgren and has worked with brett before.  he was a reciever coach there among a few other positions. i would rather have bretts 30tds and 20int over garcias 13tds and 4ints.

Farve in a Buc uniform?????????? Doubtful. Seriously without having time to learn the system, wouldn’t he be a bit of a gamble. We need to stick with Garcia.

I think that Ediie Kennison and Kevin jones would be great fits. I think that this year the Rookie from Appl. State, would be a great fit to KR & PR only. Then keep 5 Wr’s plus Kennison. As far as Simms is concerned trade him to dallas, or cut him. Also get rid of off season problems with J. Stevens, Then the club would be better Off. And Last but not least. I hope the Bucs will bring in All Everything WARREN SAPP to help work with the young defensive line to get them ready today and future

Why cant he come to the Bucs? Favre,Garcia,Greise and Johnson. That would be the best QB situation ever!!(in Tampa)
