TAMPA - Earnest Graham remains a no-show for offseason workouts. He didn’t miss much by skipping today’s practice.
Lighting strikes near One Buc Place forced cancellation of “voluntary workouts shortly after the players took the field Wednesday. One player who seemed a little glad the practice was cut short was rookie DB Aquib Talib.
Talib had only gone through a few drills when he realized the pace of practice with the veterans would be a lot faster than he was used to or maybe even expecting. He said it may take him a workout or two to get accustomed to the pace.
“The reps I did get, it went pretty good,’’ Talib said. “But this is a lot faster [than rookie minicamp]; there were a lot more players thrown at you here. Plus you got [guys going in] motion so you’ve got to know exactly what to check, exactly what to do. It was kind of overwhelming, but a couple more practice and I should be in tune with the situation.’‘
Jeff Garcia was back at work Wednesday, but word is he has yet to meet again with the Bucs regarding his contract. It’s pretty obvious that nothing is happening on the Graham front either.

Buc fans know Jeff should have gotten the Bonus, had he not been sat an extra game. All things considered with the weapons he was provided on offense he did pretty well. As for comparing EG to Rhett is like comparing apples to oranges. Rhett is the leading ball carrier in gator history and one of only a few backs to top 1000 yards in thier first two NFL seasons, yet I agree he did not deserve the E. Smith money he was asking for especially while playing for a below 500 team at the time. I believe EG deserves a minimal raise, but not a contract equal to a proven starter.

Big Daddy:
That’s all I’m sayin’. Pay him, keep him but don’t break the bank on him! Listen if we could get the wideouts goin’ EG would be more of a threat as well as the other RBs. We’ve got to strecth the field and the running game will be awesome. So yeah, I think we are on the same page.

Yeah Graham you are right about EG being a everydown back. But he doesn’t scare anybody. Opposing defenses don’t go into the game trying to stop EG. They have Garcia & Galloway on their mind. I’m not saying don’t give the man a small raise but to hold out for a new contract (if it’s true) is ridiculous. Dunn should have 2 good years left, and that will let us know if Caddy can come out of the garage or not. Give EG 1.7 for next year and see what can do as a full time starter. As for Garcia, just give him the money he would have made in incentives and be done. Don’t extend his contract because he will be a senior citizens in a couple of years. Graham are we on the same page?

Big Daddy:
You mention Dunn, I love Dunn but there are what 2yrs left? Darby hasn’t proved anything not even on special teams. Bennett, fast, but again has not proven much for the Bucs yet. Who has?EG!! Even Caddy, all he’s done has been injured. Pittman is fast but if you watch him he stutter steps way to much in the hole and that slows him down. Again, EG is an every down back and he proved it last year, he has busted his butt and Gruden has been blinded by Caddy and trying to make good on that early draft pick. I love Gruden but come on EG was laying it all out last season. You pay BJ(I agree with) but pay EG at least the same.! What about it Big Daddy??

Eric Rhett is exactly what went through my mind when I saw Graham was still absent.
I agree with “honor your contract”, but this is a 2-way street. Come on, BJ Askew has 2 million dollars more in his pocket then EG?
Bruce, HONOR your veterans.

EG is doing the exact same thing a former Buc RB from Florida (Rhett) did the year they drafted Dunn. He was never heard from again.
If the Bucs didn’t have depth at the RB position he might have some leverage. Graham picked the wrong time to hold out. Besides, I’m tired of all these overpaid athletes signing contracts and then holding out and demanding more money after one good season. HONOR your contract.

I thought that I read somewhere that Graham doesn’t show up to voluntary workouts anyway. I think this is much ado about nothing. Give him a bump in pay and let’s move on. And we all know Roy ain’t perfect.

my thoughts exactly…

Graham how much should we pay EG? EG is in big trouble now. We have Dunn, Bennett & Darby in the fold right now. And Pittman is waiting in the wings. So why should we pay EG alot of money to be a part-time player? Marion Barber just got paid because he had 2 good season not 1. If people like you were our GM we would be in the cap black hole again. Gruden/Allen don’t give EG or Garcia more than a million more a year.

Pat Dotson: Give me a break!! Earnest Graham has busted his ##### for years and is a better back than Caddy, or Pittman. He didn’t get a 1000 yrds b/c he was held out of a game or two near the end and didn’t start the season as the primary back. He is an every down back. Pay him and keep him or some other team will! He can play special teams, run downs, pass downs! Pay HIM!!

tired of hearing bout grahams holdout…we have 3 other backs on this roster that will do…if caddie, pittman and atrain wouldnt have gotten hurt last year we wouldnt even be here having this discussion…you sign a contract…live by it…stop being a little b^&*h like your agent drew and got your ##### on the field and earn your money…EG..you didnt even get a thousand yards last year and you want starter money….GIVE ME A BREAK!...

EG signed the contract, he knew how much money he was going to get. HE needs to goto practice and EARN his contract like B.J. Askew. I would not care if he showed up or not. I would LOVE to see what Bennett would be like as starter this season since now he should understand the playbook! Also people need to stop riding on Roy for making a couple typos, he aint perfect!

EG needs to staighten up and get back to work. We have depth at RB. He could lose his possition then ruin all chances he ever had to get a better contract. “Dunn,Darby, and Bennett” I believe these guys are really going to turn it up a knotch this season.

Don’t feel bad Roy, I thought it was Wednesday today, too. Now that everyone is picking on your mistakes it’s no fun to pile on. I’d like to see Graham get a bit more money, but if he keeps this up he will go the way of Eric Rhett, another Gator runningback who had the same agent, was a legend in his own mind and ended an obscure career in Cleveland as the Bucs ascended into greatness. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Don’t worry about it, Roy.
Most professional writers can spell Aqib Talib’s name, but you will get it someday.

<~Graham trying to be a third stringer on another team. Big EG fan but this is dumb! The holdout will only result in him getting buried on the depth chart. He won’t be ‘rewarded’ for holding out. He better hope Caddy is finished…because if Caddy plays…Earnest might not even be on the squad. Sign Earnest…Sign!

BTW…GRAHAM, get your Butt in camp, you ain’t special, you had one good year cause someone got hurt and it doesn’t mean that you’re going to flourish in anybody elses system. Work things out they way that you have been doing it by proving your worth on the field, believe me bruddah…your reward will come, but if someone is telling you to hold out…nix it and fix it…get back on the field!

It’s good that you guys know what day it is…but have you ever heard of a typo???? Jeez…give Roy a break man!!! Some news is better than no news and we’re going through a dry spell right about now cause there’s nothing going on in football. Roy…keep on keep’in on…SKYRIDER got your back.

Tough place to be in for both Graham & Greg White(over 28yrs old prior to last yr semi-regulars who are looking for that big time contract that usually get handed to guys 4-5 yrs younger)Hope that both sides in the end come to a middle point & get what they want
