Crawford said there is not much progress concerning his free agency

ST. PETERSBURG – During a conference call this afternoon about winning his first Gold Glove Award, Carl Crawford provided a brief update on his contract situation.
“Just kind of waiting around to see what happens,” he said. “My agent hasn’t told me anything yet, so we’re not rushing. We’re just kind of sitting back waiting.”
Crawford is expected to be one of the top catches in this year’s free agent class, with the Angels, Tigers, Yankees and Red Sox expected to make a bid for his services.
The Angels would be a good fit, being that he can play alongside his good friend, Angels center fielder Torii Hunter, he can play on grass, the Angels are a good organization with a history of winning and Anaheim isn’t that far from Crawford’s Scottsdale, Az. home.
Crawford is good friends with Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia. They share the same agent.
But there is a feeling that Crawford would prefer to not play for the Yankees or the Red Sox, having built up an animosity toward those two teams during his time in Tampa Bay.
Of course, money talks, and the Yankees have the funds to help a guy change his mind.
Either way, Crawford said he is not in a hurry to make a decision.
