TAMPA - It’s looking better for Cadillac Williams, but no one knows for sure just yet whether he’ll be able to play Sunday against the Saints.
Bucs coach Jon Gruden said he’ll wait until just before game time to decide whether Williams will play and Williams said he won’t know himself if he can go until he goes out and bounces around a little bit on Sunday morning.
The problem, of course, is sore ribs. Williams bruised them in the game against Seattle last week and he’s been improving steadily since. He can breathe and run and jump around without much pain now, but taking a hit is another matter entirely.
The likelihood, though, is that Williams will at least start the game. If he can’t go after a few tries, the Bucs can easily turn to either Michael Pittman or Earnest Graham because both dress for games on a regular basis.
Another player that remains questionable is NT Chris Hovan. Hovan hasn’t practiced all week because of a sore ankle and he’ll likely be a game-time decision as well. If Hovan can’t go look for Ryan Sims to get the bulk of the work inside.
The Bucs other injured players are CB Brian Kelly and DE Patrick Chukwurah. Both appear to be out for this week’s game.
