Bucs sign LBs Lehman, Joe

TAMPA - The Bucs bolstered their linebacking corps on Tuesday by signing veteran reserves Teddy Lehman and Leon Joe to contracts.

Details of the pacts were not immediately available but it is believed Lehman signed a one-year deal.

Lehman, who will be entering his fifth NFL season, spent last season with the Detroit Lions, playing in 16 games. Joe, who will be entering his sixth NFL season, spent part of last season with the Buffalo Bills. He has also played for the Bears and Cardinals.

In one other development the Bucs have expressed interest in RB Julius Jones. It is uncertain whether a visit has been arranged.

Is there a reason that we needed to load up on linebackers and quarterbacks this off season and not hit the pressing needs of wide receiver and cornerback?  Chris Simms should be back in camp and he’s much better than Griese was this past year with the Bears.  I’m just waiting for Culpepper, Trent Green or Joey Harrington to be signed next.
I’d have been happy with one wide receiver.  Hopefully Paris Warren can comeback and make an impact this year.

I live in the Philly area and Matt McCoy is trash!! What happened to Samuels, Moss, Stallworth..? Now thanks to Bruce Allen the Bucs are trash too!! Big splash? Hey do you guys believe me now when I say Allen must go!! 4-12 here we come!!

The Raiders and 49er’s have not outdone us in free agency. They have dug themselves into a huge hole.

Patience is no where to be found on this blog apparently!!!!!!

Free agency isn’t always all that it is cracked up to be.  Look at the Redskins for instance; years of overpaying for subpar talent didn’t get them anywhere until Gibbs changed that.  Some times it is the moves that you don’t make that put you ahead.

Let’s see how the draft goes before we start a lynching here.

THANK YOU! gruden and allen for all of these big splash Tiger Woods type of players you guys said we would get. Lets get real no one is coming to this team and they have no one in mine. When are we going to realize that we aren’t an attractive team for free agents. Gruden for all of the talking that he does haven’t proven anything to me. Who is left to get that can help us now? Sure there is the draft but they are hopefuls and unproven. I’ve been a bucs fan since they were considered the yucs and the way things are going im starting to get that old feeling back

the splash bruce allen was talking about is the bath season ticket holders are taking to support this kind of pathetic performance by the front office…the day the raiders and 49ers can out do you in free agency is the day you become a “lottery” team…

I understand that we need depth at LB, but my word.. What are they waiting for someone to cut a star receiver so we can pick him up cheap!! Javon Walker is gone already, so all we can hope is that they open their stupid wallet and get Bryant Johnson. I think he will do very well.

If i’m not mistaken didn’t the bucs have one of the Jones brothers who was having a good year when gruden and allen decided to get rid of him. I guess the splash we’re looking for has turned into a drizzle.

Excitement abounds!

I don’t know what’s goin on, who are these player’s, i thought the Bucs were goin to be one of the top teams in the free agent market. We have signed a bunch of nobody’s, scrubs, dead waste, straight up trash.I predict us to be last in the NFC South next year Allen and Gurden let us down.

Ok…now I am even letting the cynicism set in. Looks like our pressing need was back up linebackers..SINCE WE SIGNED THREE OF THEM TODAY! The Lehman move could be choice for a low fee quality back up for Ruud. I still want a dt, wr, and ot, and cb Santa. : )

As for Teddy I really cant judge how bad he is, because he came from the Lions (Who we lost to last season). When it comes down to it their arent that many above average free agents out there. Maybe were waiting for veteran cuts to sign someone good after all we do love olg guys.

I live in New York so I need one of you to make sure that Julius Jones does not get in those doors. Then again it seems like anyone thats decent wont sign with the Bucs but in my opinon he’s garbage. At this point im gonna try to be positive and say that their looking for good special teams players and good depth at certain positions. However theres no excuse for not getting someone that we need like Bryant Johnson, Rod Coleman, and even Javon Walker. (if he’s healthy)by Friday, because im sure the Bucs arent done siging backups.
