On its web site, Sports Illustrated has a cool slide show of classic spring training photos.
Included are shots of Connie Mack and Willie Mays.
There’s also this unforgettable shot of tennis star Gussie Moran in Vero Beach with Don Zimmer, Duke Snider, Carl Erskine, and Walt Moryn of the Dodgers.
There is also Pete Rose out-hustling his teammates during wind sprints, Willy McCovey, Ted Williams and Yaz and Dizzy Dean.
And this one of Jose Canseco, flexing his muscles near home plate in 1994 at what is now Charlotte Sports Park. Oh, if we only knew then what we know now, right?
