Land O’ Lakes football: You haven’t seen anything yet

The Land O’ Lakes offense has proven to be quite prolific with the induction of the spread offense by new coach Matt Kitchie.

Land O’ Lakes

In two games, the Gators have put up 93 points and have allowed a measly seven. And don’t think the offense has reached a peak either.

If you listen to Kitchen, he plans to add all kinds of twists and turns to the offense, which hasn’t been fully installed.

“I think we have a lot more to go,” Kitchie said. “We haven’t even scratched the playbook yet. We’ve kind of been pretty vanilla so far. We’ve passed the ball down field, but the plan right now is to introduce something new each week.”

Last week Land O’ Lakes implemented some Wing-T into the offense. This week it’s new formations and some motion.

Speaking of peaks, the Gators will also return running back Tyler Peak to the lineup after he was held out of last week’s game with a leg bruise. Kitchie said Peak could have played last week if needed.

Zephyrhills

This week, Land O’ Lakes will travel to Zephyrhills for its first road game of the season. Bad news for Zephyrhills: The Bulldogs (0-2) have been outscored 58-14 in their two games. The good news for the Bulldogs: They’ve always given Land O’ Lakes fits.
