The New York Yankees spent their 38th round pick (1,165th overall) to select Brandon senior outfielder James Ramsay in Wednesday’s MLB draft.
Ramsay, who missed nearly all of the 2009 season after tearing the ACL in his left knee, bounced back in 2010 to hit .419 with seven doubles, three home runs, 17 RBIs and 38 runs scored.
Ramsay, who has signed with USF, is the second Eagles senior to be drafted this year. His teammate, Roderick Shoulders, was selected Tuesday in the 20th round by Boston.
Brandon is the second Hillsborough County program to have multiple senior players drafted this year. Brooks-DeBartolo also produced two draft picks: shortstop Jadamion Williams (10th round) and outfielder Kelvin Mention (36th round), who each were drafted by the Minnesota Twins.
