Wrestling: Durant’s Cougar Invitational this Friday and Saturday

The 16th Annual Cougar Invitational wrestling tournament will take place Friday and Saturday inside the Tampa Convention Center.

The 32-team event will feature a total of 93 state qualifiers. Of that, 20 were crowned state champions. Wrestling starts at 3 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday. Finals will begin at approximately 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

There will be two sessions on both days and admission is $4 per session. There is also a $15 pass good for the entire tournament.

The top six wrestlers will place in each weight class, while the top five teams will receive trophies. Here are the participants: Miami Belen Jesuit, Brandon, Camden Co. (Ga.), Chamberlain, Cocoa Beach, Collins Hill (Ga.), Durant, Ft. Walton Beach, Hillsborough, Kissimmee Osceola, Lakeland Lake Gibson, Orlando Lake Highland Prep, Lakeland, Lennard, Miami Braddock, Newsome, Palm Harbor, Plant City, Orlando Pine Castle, Sarasota, Homestead South Dade, Southwest Miami, Spoto, Springstead, Strawberry Crest, Live Oak Suwannee, Tampa Prep, Valdosta (Ga), Viera, Wharton, Davie South Plantation Western and Winter Springs.
