Alexis Givands and Janae’ Stokes, rated as the nation’s No. 2 and 3 best junior college guards in America by Collegiate Girls Basketball Report, signed with the University of South Florida’s women’s basketball team Tuesday.
The Bulls also signed Central Florida Community College guard Allyson Speed.
“We are bringing in two players in Alexis Givands and Janae’ Stokes that won a junior college national championship (last year) at Gulf Coast Community College,” Fernandez said in a statement. “Both players remind me of a player that we had here a few years ago that was just a winner in Anedra Gilmore. She also won a national championship at Gulf Coast.”
“Alexis is a kid that is just really solid offensively. She has good balance and can create off the dribble, she’s really strong and she is an extremely tough defender. So all around I think she is just a very good basketball player.
“Janae’ is a kid that can really score. She can really shoot the ball extremely well and is very consistent with her mid-range jumper.”
