Jefferson quarterback Quentin Williams has been invited to participate in the Steve Clarkson Dreammaker Quarterback Showcase at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando on April 10, and a big performance there could lead to a spot in the 2011 Under Armour All-America Game and the Steve Clarkson Super 7 Maui Retreat.
Williams, a Class 3A all-state first team pick after leading the Dragons to the state semifinals last season, was selected after finishing as one of the state’s top passers statistically, according to an email sent by the event’s chief operating officer to Jefferson coach Mike Fenton.
The Steve Clarkson Dreammaker Tour features 15 stops across the United States, and the event is open to youth and high school quarterbacks. The one-day, points-based audition will feature four testing stations, according to the event’s website: accuracy challenge, pocket presence drill, long distance toss and player interview.
Each tour stop will produce five youth and high school semifinalists, which will put them in line to earn an invite to the Super 7 Maui Retreat in July, where the chosen signal callers will be mentored by the likes of NFL Hall of Famers Joe Montana and Warren Moon.
Clarkson, a former quarterback at San Jose State University who also played in the NFL and CFL, is a quarterback coach who has mentored NFL signal callers Ben Roethlisberger and Matt Leinart, among others.
