Indications since the Scott Kazmir trade went down have been that the “player to be named” component of the deal is more significant in this case than in most others, and there continue to be signs that Angels infielder Sean Rodriguez may be the Rays’ man.
The Los Angeles Times points out that Rodriguez was not among the five players called up from Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday night even though he has hit .301 with 29 homers and 93 RBIs this year. An unusual move, certainly—and for what it’s worth, another player rumored to be a possibility, catcher Bobby Wilson, was among that group called up.
