In Florida, the natives wear flip-flops in the middle of December. Can Green Bay make the same claim?
We didn’t think so.

You know what I’m better than this and I will not comment or respond to anymore of your post. There are people that want to talk sports and I’m one of them, so if you have anmore comments save them until next Thursday and Iwill be more than happy to reply to anything that you may want to discuss. Bottom line is be there if your man enough!

I will be in Memphis next Thursday to see a client, and will be there until friday afternoon staying at the Peabody and would love the chance to meet you!! I doubt very seriously you would follow the instructions but here they go anyway. Call the front desk and leave me a message as when you are there and I will meet you out front, and we can see what you think about a person from Mississippi afterwards. I wouldn’t expect anything less from a low life from Memphis. I would love to say more but willl be glad to tell face to face.

I promised many, so I guess I’ve got to give you one more. Look to the core of my statement and you can see I have no sense? Talking out of both sides of my mouth? I can seriously consider being a writer and make a not so serious comment about actually being one. That’s not talking out of both sides of your mouth. If you are going to use such a phrase, at least figure out what it means first. I am done with this. I’ll wait for some real news and get back to my usual, relevant commenting. You’re only a few hours away so you’re welcome to come to Memphis if you really have an issue you want to discuss.

It’s always brilliant to correct a mistaken double post by posting a 3rd time. Judging by your grammar, I would guess that, if you have a college education, it was not in anything involving heavy writing. It’s not Memphis State, it’s U of Memphis and, no, I didn’t get my undergrad degree at that joke of a college. Is it your old age that is causing your ignorance? You might be able to get through Ole Miss or Memphis, so I’ll give you a little credit. Being one small step above high school doesn’t make a great college. Who cares about education? If everyone could simply discuss the issues and write coherently, we could all get along here.

Chris, I don’t expect much mentally from anyone in Mississippi, but you’re really setting the bar low here. I just spoke with a friend and mentioned that I was being attacked after making the mistake of mentioning my education. He did the same on another blog and got the same result: a bunch of idiots who envy someone with more education. Having an education makes me no better than the next guy. I was simply stating that in my half-joking application for a writing position. If I were serious, I would have sent a resume and a writing sample. I am not saying I wouldn’t like to write for my team’s paper (who wouldn’t?), but I was joking in that context. If you had sense, you may have noticed that.

sorry about the double post there guys

tsung, thanks for getting to a reasonable football question, even though it involves Favre. I believe the NFL forbids such contract restrictions. During the 1st day or 2 of this debacle, when I actually kept up with it, I remember someone saying that such a contract provision forbidding a future trade is void. A gentleman’s agreement is the best the Packers can get. It appears Al Davis made one of these agreements regarding their RB and the team broke it immediately.

I’m not even going to waste the time and effort to corect this guy, just take a look at how he is talking out both sides of his mouth. plus look at the core of his statement and you will see the level of education he claims to have. If so, I bet he got it from Memphis State.
As far as Brett goes it would be a win win deal for him to be traded to MN and for Tampa to get draft picks for next season. I just want Favre to go where ever and regain what he has lost during all of this. Bottom line GB should be ashame of themselves!

No, but Green Bay doesn’t have fair weather fans though either, and unless you’ve been to Green Bay in the middle of December for a game it will never compare to any other stadium especially Ray J. The atmosphere is electrifying, the fans are welcoming even to opposing fans, and I would take all of that any day over the fair weather, rude fans of the Bucs and wearing flip flops in December! The worst mistake Brett could make would be coming to Tampa.

I’m trying to get unhung from myself. I never knew it was possible to get hung up on yourself, but it appears I am trapped here with my leg hanging from the back of my head. Enlightened souls, please help unhang me. I forgot, just because me and most other fans don’t care to hear about Favre until he decides to play somewhere, I am a hated, self-righteous clown. I’ll wear my costume to the game when I make it down on Oct. 10th to watch us play my least favorite team. I will probably be ousted from the game because I am actually a huge football fan and will be cheering loudly for my favorite team. We may have to arrange some meetings. I’m not big on anonymous s&#$ talkers, so I’d love to “speak” in person.

Just a question here that I was contemplating as I was reading these emails, and I don’t know if anyone is in a position to answer.....but if GB is reluctant to give Brett to Minn or Chi, I would assume that a trade to tampa would include a clause that he could not be traded to x, y and z teams...?

Craig, I have just as much of a right to post here as you do. A joking statement about writing for the paper shouldn’t provoke a rational person to tear into someone else. I forgot that I can’t expect much in the way of reason here in these comments. I don’t know how I even got hooked on reading comments and posting, but we’re all here doing it. I would prefer to discuss the team, but people like yourself criticize me for emphasizing the need to focus on the team (we should be fans here). Now, I will post 20 or so various responses ranging from ridiculous to senseless since you have prompted me to have no sense. I want to live up to this reputation you established for me.

I guess by writing here and declaring my opinion to be worthless, you understand that your opinion is worthless as well. I’m a fairly sarcastic person, so I apologize for your inability to realize when I’m serious and when I’m not.
I have actually stood up for our writers here in the past. They were writing stories that were basically simple interviews and everyone bashed them. I pointed out that they have a job to do, so they must report something in July. That’s all they had to work with. It’s now training camp so there is no excuse not to give us some good stories about that.

Well Chris, you got one thing correct. I would like to be a writer, but have never made much of an effort at it. I’ve got other things to worry about at the moment. I didn’t read the Favre articles, as you insinuated. I merely noticed the ridiculous number of headlines with “Favre” in them. I do not self-promote and I don’t lie about any education I may have. I was halfway joking. I want coverage of my team, not a person who may or may not end up on my team. Thanks for your pathetic attempt at criticism. I think your opinion is as invaluable as anyone else’s on this subject. It’s also funny to hear you are well versed in how good of a person I may or may not be.

Chris, just ignore Ref. These high and mighties who think they can write better should just DO it or shut up.

I think giving up a number one to get Farve Is the tip of the Ice Berg. I think if this trade goes down shipping qb Griese and Lineman plus the number one next year, Would be the first of series of trades. I see after Farve gets to Tampa. Then Farve could gets its wish and trades to Minnesota for its number one and maybe a safety or cb. Plus another late round draft choice on how Farve will preform. Then our QB would be set. With garcia,Simms,McGown,Johnson plus pay Garcia what he’s worth.
Posted by ref813, memphis on 08/06 at 02:40 PM
I guess Chris is among the many who like to contemplate issues not pertinent, as of yet. If Favre came, Garcia would be traded or retire. I’d put $100 on that. Favre would also be unable to learn about 75% of the plays. I’m sure his teammates and coach would end up loving this major limitation. This would be about like buying a nice, self-driving car only to find out that it lacked much of the map necessary to get around. I think we would be driving in the limited area and others would be able to predict our path. I won’t waste any more time on “what ifs?”.

Your really hung up on yourself and no one cares what your opinion is anyway. If your such a wonderful writer why don’t you get a job writing and stop responding to the columns that are written by real sports writers. Also, if it is getting your panies in such a wad to keep seeing and reading articles about Brett then stop surfing the internet and watching Tv but until you do that , stop bashing people about them doing there job and doing better than a person who is sitting in Memphis wishing they had a job writing for a sports column. Chill out with all the attitude and the self proclaimed education that hasn’t made you a better person to begin with.

I have never seen such a public display of mental masturbation. How can the media continue to put out story after story about the same thing? He will play somewhere. Until the day comes, shut the f@#$ up. I come to this site today only to find article after article on Favre. What does this tell us? Some of us care about our current team and would prefer to read substantive coverage of it, not worthless speculation.
Dear Editor, if you want a real writer, I’d be more than happy to come down there and write for you. I have a B.A. and a J.D. and I’ve watched every Bucs game for years. I’d be more than happy to give our fans something worth reading.
Posted by Chris rhodes, Hattiesburg Mississippi on 08/06 at 02:18 PM
Brett would be the best thing for Tampa Bay but I think the only issue at hand here is what about Jeff G? Will he and Brett be able to play on the same team. With that said it would be up to Jeff if he could handle watchinh and holding a clip board. I also think Gruden knowing what is best for your team will take Favre and gve him a crash course and start him after the first ex- game! We will see soon!
Posted by Mark R Bowman, Port Charlotte, FL on 08/06 at 11:52 AM
Gruden won’t let Favre freestyle on the field and call his own plays. He was a great player but won’t fit with Bucs coaching… My guess Favre is trade bait!!! Get him from Green Bay then trade him to the Vikings or Bears for High draft picks or some position players that we really need

Assuming I’m available, I’d be happy to meet one of my fellow Buc fans up here. If you’re not a Bucs fan, I don’t think we have much to discuss. I don’t know how the attacks got so out of hand, but I can move past this and get back to football. I simply found this endless speculation to be a waste of an article that could discuss our team and its progression in camp. Downtown Memphis is a fun place, so I’ll see about joining you for a drink if I’m around. If you’re not a Bucs fan, this will be the end of the senseless argument.
