If the regular-season is supposed to prepare football teams for the postseason, then this should paint a picture as to which Hillsborough County playoff teams are most prepared entering the postseason, which begins Friday.

We looked at the combined opponents record for each team, and looked at how they fared this season against teams that finished with winning records and other programs headed to the postseason. For the purpose of this chart, a Quality Opponent is defined as an opponent with six or more regular-season wins. A Quality Win is defined as a win against a Quality Opponent.

Record vs. Playoff Teams: 1-2

SICKLES (8-2)
Opponents Record: 39-59
Quality Opponents: 3
Quality Wins: 1
Record vs. Playoff Teams: 2-1

TAMPA BAY TECH (8-1)
Opponents Record: 44-42
Quality Opponents: 4
Quality Wins: 3
Record vs. Playoff Teams: 4-1

TAMPA CATHOLIC (8-1)
Opponents Record: 49-41
Quality Opponents: 4
Quality Wins: 3
Record vs. Playoff Teams: 2-1

Lakeland Kathleen’s on-field record of 9-1 (the team finished 3-7 as of a result of six forfeits) was factored into Jesuit’s Opponent record. Kathleen also was counted as a Quality Opponent for Jesuit. However, Jesuit’s forfeit win was not counted as a Quality Win.

Only the district records for first-year programs Steinbrenner (0-6) and Strawberry Crest (1-5) were factored into the Opponent Record for Robinson and Jesuit.

Because the Newsome-Jefferson matchup in Week 2 was ruled an unoffical game by national rules after it was not played in its entirety, it was not factored into any category for either team.
