During Lee Roy Selmon’s rookie season, he wasn’t the Hall of Famer Bucs fans have come to know and revere and love.
He was Leroy Selmon.
For his entire first season in the NFL, the media misspelled his name, but Selmon was too polite to correct them. It wasn’t until an interview with his mother revealed the mistake and the correction was made.
