Wharton’s Petersen commits; Gawrych gets UA invite

Wharton senior baseball player Myles Petersen has committed to Polk State College, formerly known as Polk Community College, Wildcats coach Scott Hoffman said Thursday.
Petersen, a right-handed pitcher, logged 17 2/3 innings over eight appearances for the Wildcats last season and posted a 3-1 record.
Also, senior outfielder Zach Gawrych has received an invite to the Under Armour Preseason All-America Tournament, which is scheduled for Jan. 15-17 at the Kino Sports Complex in Tuscon, Ariz. Gawrych, a University of Tampa signee, hit .312 over 25 games last season.
