Wharton junior quarterback Andrew Clifford took home the golden jersey after winning the Golden Gun Accuracy Challenge at the 2008 EA SPORTS Elite 11 regional quarterback camp at the University of Alabama on Saturday.
Clifford scored 15 points in the preliminary round, and then won the finals with 6 points. The camp also included Georgia commit Zach Mettenberger.
“When I went up there, I didn’t expect to do good,” Clifford said. “It definitely helped my confidence.”
The rising senior, who threw for 1,471 yards with 10 touchdowns last season, has interest from UCF, USF, Louisville, Clemson, Auburn and Illinois.
As for the jersey, Clifford said he won’t wear it in public, specifically school, because he doesn’t want people to think he has an ego.
“I’ll wear it to sleep or something,” he joked.

Andrew nothing you have done has surprised me. You continue to move forward and I couldn’t be prouder for you and your parents. I knew you had the IT factor when I coached you at NTW I could see it in your eyes and I have talked to many about your ability to play the position. Stay true to your skills listen, watch and learn don’t worry about others and it will all work out. When it comes time to decide on a college pick the best fit for you and not the name of the school and some day we’ll be watching you on Sunday’s I honestly believe that. Coach Santoni

How much bigger would this news be if it was a Plant student. This is beyond ridiculous. Last year Murray was a “ball boy” and it was huge news, this morning I look in my paper and this is hardly a blip on the screen. The double standard is more than obvious, its embarassing.
