Ever since Joe Ross resigned as Jesuit’s head football coach, one name immediately began circulating as a possible replacement - Robert Weiner.
Well, Weiner, a Jesuit alumnus and former Tigers assistant coach, has officially been asked and he officially said no when he met with Jesuit athletic director Terry Rupp.
Seven years ago, many Jesuit players and alumni were surprised when Weiner did not inherit the job of his longtime mentor, Dominick Ciao, who resigned after 18 years as the Tigers’ head coach. Weiner, who taught English at Jesuit, is a 1983 graduate of the school and assisted Ciao 15 seasons. Of the 130 victories Ciao posted at Jesuit, Weiner was an assistant for 125.
In 2002, Weiner was also named Assistant of the Year by the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame. Weiner also was a longtime assistant to Jesuit baseball coach John Crumbley and even coached basketball at the school.
But after meeting with Rupp, Weiner said his heart is now at Plant. Read more details of the meeting here: http://www2.tbo.com/content/2010/jan/22/weiner-remain-plant/sports-prepsports/

Congratulations on your achievements Coach. Looking like a pretty bad decision to not give you the job when Ciao stepped down. Go Tigers!
