Here is a quick recap of USF athletics from over the weekend:
MEN’S SOCCER: Shawn Chin and Shane Wixted both scored as the Bulls defeated Virginia Tech 2-0 on Friday night at the USF soccer stadium. A record crowd of 2,669 saw the Bulls earn their second straight win and improve to 2-1-1 on the season.
WOMEN’S SOCCER: Venicia Reid scored twice to power USF to a 2-1 win over Harvard on Sunday afternoon, which helped the Bulls go 1-0-1 over the weekend. Chelsea Klotz scored USF’s lone goal in a 1-1 tie with Jacksonville on Friday. The Bulls, at 5-1-1, are off to their best start since 1998.
VOLLEYBALL: USF went 1-2 over the weekend at the Saluki Invitational at Southern Illinois, defeating Southeast Missouri State in its opener before falling to Mississippi State and the host Salukis. Senior Allie Boaz and junior Janice Rivera were named to the all-tournament team.
CROSS COUNTRY: Phillip Wise finished 11th and Nicole Rozario took ninth to lead their respective squads Sunday at the Big East Preview, the season-opening event for both of USF’s teams. The Bulls’ men took third overall, while the women finished fifth.
