All Hail to Julio! Julio Hernandez was the only one of 103 entries to correctly pick that USF would defeat Tennessee Martin 56-7.

So since he’s from Orlando, you might want to pay attention to what he picks for Saturday’s USF-UCF game.

The correct answers from the Week 1 Picks Contest: USF covered the 41 1/2 point spread, Ben Williams was the leading rusher, Dontavia Bogan had the most receiving yards, George Selvie had less than 1 1/2 sacks and Kentucky thumped Louisville.

Below are the point totals after the first week of the picks contest. Two notes: First, if your name is not listed that means you didn’t get any correct answers. Second, the AP poll will not be released until Tuesday afternoon so I will go back and add three points to anyone who correctly predicted USF’s newest ranking.

I wanted to get these posted before Labor Day in case you happen to check out the blog on your day off. I’ll be off, but will be back Tuesday with the 5 questions for week two. If you see I’ve got you with an incorrect score, it’s nothing personal, I promise. E-mail me and I’ll double-check and correct it.

And don’t get discouraged if you didn’t do well the first week. Steve Stacy, the 2006 champion on his self-proclaimed road to redemption, got only one correct answer and Ben Forlaw, last year’s champion, didn’t even enter. Perhaps, he’s spotting everyone a week or two, to make it more of a challenge for him this year.
