Watkins: ‘God Doesn’t Like Ugly and He Got What He Deserved’

During the same halftime that ultimately led to USF coach Jim Leavitt’s firing on Friday, Leavitt head-butted former USF linebacker LaDre Watkins.

When Leavitt took the field for the second half of that Nov. 21 game against Louisville, he had a bloody nose and face.

Of course, we would later learn that Leavitt also had a physical altercation with sophomore walk-on Joel Miller that led to his demise as the only head coach in USF history.

Over the past few weeks, Watkins has remained quiet and declined multiple interview requests from The Tampa Tribune about what happened at halftime of that game.

However, Watkins had this to say on his Facebook page Friday. This is taken verbatim, so please excuse the errors:

Wow people are idiots u have no clue wat joel miller is goin through right now he actually was humble about the situation ..because if it was another player gettin treated like that there would have been a player/ coach fight..god doesn’t like ugly and he got wat He deserved—A status update Friday on LaDre Watkins’ Facebook page.

Was Watkins wearing his helmet at the time of the head-butt?

LaDre Watkins spoke the truth about the quality and nature of the man (Leavitt) and we should all be glad that Leavitt’s lack of character and his borderline mental shortcomings were discovered now and when USF had the chance to rid themselves of this guy and do so without having to shell out a ton of payout money the school didn’t have.  If USF makes a good decision on new HC, then in the long run, USF will be far better off.

Yes, from every report I’ve seen, the kid who received the head butt had his helmet on—CJL definitely got the worse of that exchange.
