UPDATE: Here’s a link to that column, along with this request by email from Jeff for those wishing to access his web page, which provides regular updates on his condition.
“… any interested person needs to know to go to “WagnersSecondSet” to get there to my www.carepages.com site. ... Off to drive to Miami for the doctors visits with The Miami Project tomorrow!”
ORIGINAL POST:
I caught up this week with Jeff Wagner, the USF fan and booster whose battle against leukemia became a national story last fall when the Bulls rose in the football rankings.
He is the “Finish Strong” guy. Bracelets with those words became a common sight after word of Wagner’s story first became public last fall.
I’ll have a large update on him Sunday in the Trib’s sports section, but here’s a quick update.
He is battling paralysis now. He has no movement or feeling below his ribcage and doctors aren’t sure why. He has been in and out of hospitals lately and even ventured to Miami last week for a checkup at the Miami Project. There is concern that leukemia is back for the third time, but doctors haven’t said anything definitive.
You can check his progress at carepages.com.
People who know Jeff won’t have to be told this, but during my talk with him at the Moffitt Cancer Center he was upbeat and ready for the fight. He is unafraid about the future and completely committed to spreading the word of his considerable faith through his battle against this disease.
