Bucs center John Wade and linebacker Antoine Cash have yet to receive offers from Tampa Bay.
Wade, a 10-year veteran, is slated to become an unrestricted free agent, while Cash is a restricted free agent.
“I haven’t anything yet,” said James Cook, who represents both players.
It appears likely that Wade will not be resigned and Tampa Bay will look to Dan Buenning to start at center, a move the Bucs appear comfortable with.
Cash, a second-year player, injured his knee in the preseason and was placed on injured reserve. Tampa Bay will likely examine its options at linebacker before resigning Cash.
In addition, it appears highly likely Tampa Bay will resign offensive lineman Matt Lehr, who is slated to become an unrestricted free agent on Friday. Tampa Bay has spoken several times with Bob Lattinville, Lehr’s agent, and it is only a matter of time before a deal is done.
Lattinville said Lehr wants to remain in Tampa Bay and the Bucs are ready to make a offer to retain the seven-year veteran.

This is good news. I have been wondering if the club saw Buenning as a starter at center for 2008. Wade has done OK but was essentially a stop-gap when signed from Jacksonville who was the best possible option, not a point of strength. Lehr is a valuable back-up, with NFL starting experience at guard & at center. This will free the Bucs from having to address a weak center crop in the draft and in free agency.
Cash I have no opinion on.

They have been trying to replace Wade for a few years now. Sometimes the best way to upgrade a position is to just let the incumbent go.
