As long as she could remember, Elissa Hausmann wanted to attend the University of Florida.
In spring 2008, she got her chance.
Hausmann turned down an athletic scholarship from Division I Florida Gulf Coast University when Florida women’s volleyball coach Mary Wise offered her a preferred walk-on spot. Because Haussmann had been accepted at Florida, she couldn’t say no.
“I didn’t think I had an opportunity to do that,” Hausmann said. “I’ve been going to camp at UF for three years, and Mary said if you don’t have a spot on a team (as a senior), give me a call. A spot opened up, and she called.”
Now a sophomore on the No. 5 ranked Florida women’s volleyball team, the former Gaither High standout is fulfilling her dream.

That’s it? In the middle of football season, with everything that’s going on with the number one team in the nation, that’s it since September 28? A volleyball article? Seriously?
